never broken a bone

crashed a car

lost a home 

survived a natural disaster

but my heart

my soul

my time

my mind

they've been through the ringer

imploded, exploded, thrown in a blender 

just like the song by Eve 6 

sent to oblivion

 

a father with parkinson's

gone when i was 30

not long after 

a breakup of toxic relationship

i was blind to the entire time

for six years prior 

taking care of him 

middle of the night clean up

six years after

recovering from it all

 

a mother with multiple issues

a bag to change

a life to worry

my self allowing me 

to smash upon invisible walls

dusting off  

getting back up

again and again

 

the years in between

discovery, recovery

accidents of the life

we all live

choices made

scattered dreams

 

yet still standing 

ready to do it all again

and more

You haven't weathered natural disasters, but you've cared for two ailing parents and that takes such an emotional and physical toll. Knowing that you would do it all over again speaks of very strong character!

Thank you for that as it is not how I always feel. "Funny" story, one of my best friends actually lived in a beach house out in Rockaway Beach which I qould occasionally frequent and/or even sleep over albeit uncomfortably. About two weeks before Sandy hit he had moved out. The house was destroyed.
